BJP Leader Rajendra Rathore Urges Caution on Ajmer Dargah Case Until Hearing Stage

A local court in Ajmer has stirred controversy by issuing notices regarding a petition that alleges the Ajmer Dargah was constructed over a Shiva temple. Former opposition leader Rajendra Rathore commented on Sunday that it is premature to discuss the matter until it reaches the hearing stage. He emphasised that any court decision must be respected by all parties involved.

Rathore Comments on Ajmer Dargah Case

Rathore, during his visit to Ajmer, stated, "It would not be appropriate to take this matter forward now. Whatever decision the court will take, everyone will have to accept it. Until any case reaches the hearing stage, it is immature to say anything." His remarks came amid growing discussions about the court's notices.

Ajmer Court's Notices Stir Debate

The Ajmer court, renowned for its dargah attracting thousands of devotees from various faiths daily, issued notices last Wednesday. These notices were directed at the dargah committee, the Union government, and the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). The petition's claim about the dargah's origins has sparked significant debate and attention.

In a press conference held at the circuit house, Rathore also highlighted recent decisions by the BJP government in Rajasthan. He described these decisions as historic, particularly mentioning the approval of a new bill. The Rajasthan Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Bill 2024 received Cabinet approval on Saturday.

Rathore expressed that this legislation had been anticipated for quite some time. He noted its importance in addressing issues related to religious conversions in the state. The bill aims to regulate and prevent unlawful conversions, reflecting ongoing concerns within Rajasthan's political landscape.

The unfolding situation in Ajmer continues to draw interest from various quarters. As legal proceedings progress, many await further developments regarding the petition and its implications for both historical and religious narratives in the region.
