Smriti Irani To Forfeit Deposit, Rahul Gandhi To Be PM: UP Congress President Ajay Rai

Ajay Rai, Uttar Pradesh Congress president predicts that Union minister Smriti Irani will lose her seat in Amethi while asserting that his party leader, Rahul Gandhi is set to become the nation’s prime minister. He also criticized BJP over recent incidents at a union minister's house.

Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai recently made a bold assertion, stating that sitting MP Smriti Irani will lose her deposit from the Amethi seat in the upcoming election and Rahul Gandhi will ascend to the position of Prime Minister. This claim comes as part of a broader discussion on the political dynamics at play in Uttar Pradesh and across India.

Rai's Political Predictions

Rai's comments were made during his participation in Janmashtami festivities in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh. The Congress leader confidently predicted an upset for Union Minister Smriti Irani, who had previously defeated senior Congress leader and former Amethi representative, Rahul Gandhi, in the 2019 general elections. "Union minister Smriti Irani is going to forfeit her deposit in Amethi," Rai said.

Furthermore, he expressed optimism about Congress' performance in next year's Lok Sabha election. He stated that not only would they register a rousing performance across the country but also see Rahul Gandhi become prime minister. "In the 2024 Lok Sabha election, you will see that Rahul Gandhi will become the prime minister," he added.

Criticisms towards BJP

In addition to his predictions about electoral outcomes, Rai also took aim at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), suggesting it should focus more on its internal issues rather than its electoral ambitions. This criticism was prompted by recent events involving Union Minister Kaushal Kishore's son Vikas Kishore - specifically referring to a murder case of a 30-year-old man at Vikas Kishore’s home last week.

"The BJP needs to first take a look at what was happening at the house of its own minister", Rai argued. He further suggested that BJP should abandon hopes of winning all 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh or even retaining their hold over Amethi and Raebareli constituencies - areas which have traditionally been strongholds for members of Gandhi family.

Gandhi Family Support

Rai emphasized on how both Amethi and Raebareli have always stood with Gandhi family historically and are likely to continue this trend moving forward despite previous electoral setbacks."They [Amethi & Raebareli] have always stood with Gandhi family and will always stand with them", he added.
