Air India to Fully Resume International Flights From October 1 After Safety Review

Air India is set to resume its full international flight operations from October 1, 2025, marking a significant step toward restoring normalcy after months of disruption. The Tata-owned airline had temporarily suspended its overseas services following the tragic Ahmedabad plane incident on June 12, which led to an extensive internal safety review.

In a recent statement, Air India CEO Campbell Wilson confirmed that the airline began a phased restoration of international flights from August 1, with complete resumption targeted for October 1. He stressed that this gradual restart would allow the airline to thoroughly verify all safety and operational procedures before returning to full-scale service.

"This measured approach ensures we complete every verification thoroughly and resume service with complete confidence," Wilson said.

He also acknowledged the challenges passengers have faced in recent weeks, including delays and cancellations, and extended an apology to affected customers. Wilson assured that the airline is actively working to strengthen internal systems and improve the overall travel experience.

"I acknowledge that there have been some operational challenges over the last few weeks that may have impacted your travel experience. Rest assured, we take this seriously," he added.

The June 12 incident, which caused significant concern among travelers and regulators, prompted Air India to prioritise safety and reliability before returning to international routes.

This upcoming full resumption is expected to restore confidence among flyers and support the airline's long-term growth strategy under Tata Group's ownership. It also comes ahead of the busy holiday and festive travel season.
