Air India serves meal in thali, tea in kulhad
Mumbai, Feb 4: Air India, the national carrier of India has become the first to serve thalis for lunch and dinner and tea in traditional kulhads on board flights.
According to a circular issued last month, "Lunch, dinner thalis and kulhad tea will initially be served on Delhi-Mumbai-Delhi sector flights and subsequently, extended to other metro sector flights."

"Cabin crew members have been given instructions on preparing thali and pre-fix masala chai," reported the Times of India Ashwani Lohani, AI chairman and MD as saying.
Lunch, dinner were served in thalis for the first time on Monday.
The thali components have to be heated separately and then plated, which will take more time than a conventional business class meal.
Air India introduced ‘Order to Chef' service for its premium class passengers, on select international flights out of Delhi.
In association with its in-flight catering partners TajSats and Sky Gourmet, the ‘Order to Chef' Service lends a personalized touch to the selection and ordering of menu by First and Business class passengers.
