Air India Flights Status: 70 Flights Canceled After Crew Members Go On 'Mass Sick Leave'

Air India Flights Status: Air India Express announced last-minute cancelation of more than 70 international and domestic flights after its crew members decided to go on a mass 'sick leave', according to the news agency ANI. The reports said that Air India flights scheduled from Tuesday late night to Wednesday have been canceled following the shortage of staff, which led to inconvenience to hundreds of passengers.

The matter was also raised by commuters on social media platforms, after which, the Ministry of Civil Aviation took cognizance of the matter and are investigating the situation.

Reacting to the incident, Air India Express spokesperson said some crew members applied for sick leave together at the last minute, which led to chaos and flight schedule disturbance. Several flights have been canceled or delayed resulting in inconvenience to commuters.

The Airways also apologised for the unexpected disruption.

"While we are engaging with the crew to understand the reasons behind these occurrences, our teams are actively addressing this issue to minimise any inconvenience caused to our guests as a result. We sincerely apologise to our guests for this unexpected disruption and emphasise that this situation does not reflect the standard of service we strive to provide. Guests impacted by cancellations will be offered a full refund or complimentary rescheduling to another date. Guests flying with us today are requested to check if their flight is affected, before heading to the airport," ANI quoted the Air India Express spokesperson.
