Air India Express: Trichy-Sharjah Flight Makes An Emergency Landing At Thiruvananthapuram

An Air India Express Trichy-Sharjah Flight 613 made an emergency landing at Thiruvananthapuram airport around 10:45 am, the airport authority said.

The flight with 154 passengers on Monday morning departed from Tiruchirappalli Airport in Tamil Nadu before it was diverted to the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport due to technical issues.

There was a landing gear malfunction, and the airline also confirmed that it was a precautionary landing. An Air India spokesperson said that the flight landed safely.

Air India Express Spokesperson said, "Flight IX613, operating between Tiruchirappalli and Sharjah on 31st July, made a precautionary landing at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport. The decision was taken due to a technical snag post-takeoff. The airline clarifies that this was not an emergency landing. We regret the inconvenience caused to guests on board. Our team is making alternative arrangements for their travel."

Meanwhile, the airport authority also said that the Thiruvananthapuram-Bahrain Air India Express flight IX 573, which had 180 passengers, abandoned takeoff due to technical reasons at 11:06 am.
