Nineteen Arrested in Budhana, Including AIMIM Activists, for Violating Prohibitory Orders During Protests

Authorities detained 19 individuals, including three members of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), on Tuesday in Budhana town. Among those arrested was Azam, the AIMIM Budhana city party president. The arrests were made for breaching the model code of conduct and violating prohibitory orders, according to Senior Superintendent of Police Abhishek Singh.

AIMIM Activists Among Nineteen Arrested in Budhana

Over 500 people faced charges after protests erupted in Budhana town. The unrest was sparked by rumours that a youth, detained for allegedly posting an objectionable comment about Islam on social media, had been released. Officials confirmed that security measures have been intensified in the area to prevent further disturbances.

Protests and Arrests

The demonstrators were accused of chanting objectionable slogans, spreading false information, and throwing stones at Nikhil Tyagi's shop. Tyagi had been arrested on Saturday for his alleged offensive remarks. When protesters heard rumours of his release, they blocked Kandhla road in Budhana, officials reported.

Hundreds who gathered for the protest were charged with violating the model code of conduct and prohibitory orders. These measures were in place due to the upcoming byelections in the Meerapur assembly constituency within Muzaffarnagar district.

Legal Actions and Security Measures

SSP Singh informed reporters on Sunday that two cases had been filed against 500-700 protesters. Additionally, a case was registered against Tyagi himself. To maintain order, police conducted a flag march in Budhana and increased security presence in the area.

Extra police forces have been stationed in Budhana as a precautionary step to ensure peace and prevent any further incidents. The authorities are taking these actions seriously to uphold law and order during this sensitive period.

The situation remains tense but under control as law enforcement continues to monitor developments closely. The community is urged to remain calm and refrain from spreading unverified information that could escalate tensions further.
