AIIMS student commits suicide
Jodhpur, Jul 6: A 19-year-old MBBS student of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in his hostel room. Gajendra Singh, resident of Phulera near Jaipur, hanged himself yesterday, police said.
He was rushed to MDM hospital where he died during treatment, they said. Police have found a suicide note in which Singh expressed his inability to cope with medical education.

"I am not fit for the course and not worth living," the note said. Singh was studying in first year of MBBS.
"When he was brought here, we provided him CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) and revived him. But due to brain stemming and repeated cardiac arrests, he finally succumbed at night," said trauma in-charge of the hospital Vikas Rajpurohit.
Director of the AIIMS Sanjeev Mishra said that his family members were informed immediately and the body was handed over to them after postmortem this afternoon.
Referring to the suicide note where Singh said the system in the college advocates "rote learning", Mishra said that in every course you have to read the subject material several times to remember and understand it.
"It cannot be termed as rote learning and our faculty did not insist on rote learning either," he said. "It was quite unfortunate and it was like we have lost a member of our family," he added.
