AIADMK will be united, there will not be any family interference: OPS
With both factions of the AIADMK working towards ironing out the differences, O Panneerselvam on Sunday said the party will be united and assured that there will not be any family interference.
Panneerselvam, who heads the AIADMK (Puratchi Thalaivi Amma) faction, has been demanding that VK Sasikala and her relatives be kept out of the AIADMK.
"This party will be united and it will be made sure that no family interference happens in the party...Soon the merger talks will get over and you will get a good news," he said on Sunday.
At an event on Saturday, OPS said that the talks are going on smoothly. A positive result is expected in a day or two, he told reporters. The much-expected merger on Friday night had failed to come off following reported divergent views among the members of the OPS faction.
This included the demand of certain members for a CBI inquiry into late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's death as against the announcement of an inquiry commission to be headed by a retired High Court judge.
Dinakaran, who spoke to reporters on Friday after meeting his aunt and party general secretary VK Sasikala at a Bengaluru jail on her birthday yesterday, had downplayed the expected merger of the AIADMK factions saying it would not have any longevity and that it was not a 'setback' to him.
