|

Rebel camp of AIADMK leaders led by TTV Dinakaran has proposed Sengottaiyan as the Chief Minister. A day after Dinakaran herded 19 AIADMK MLAs to a resort in Puducherry, Sengottaiyan has been projected as rebel camp's CM candidate.

Protests were witnessed outside the resort in Puducherry with supporters of AIADMK burning Dinakaran's effigies. On Wednesday, Dinakaran sacked Palanisamy and Panneerselvam loyalists from all party posts. Revenue Minister RB Udhayakumar was sacked from Jayalalithaa Peravai with Dinakaran loyalist Mariappan Kennedy replacing him. VV Rajan Chennappa was removed as party Madurai urban secretary.

19 MLAs supporting DInakaran have withdrawn their support to Edappadi Palanisamy while the DMK, PMK and COngress have urged the Governor to direct the Chief Minister to prove majority in the assembly.

"Sasikala Natarajan appointed Edappadi Palanisamy. When a decision was taken to make her the General Secretary, Panneerselvam also signed in acceptance but both parties are demanding her ouster now. We do not have confidence in this Chief Minister and was a change of CM," said C R Saraswati from the TTV Dinakaran camp.

More than seven MLAs from the Edappadi Palanisamy camp are expected to jump ship to support TTV Dinakaran posing a threat to the current government. Dinakaran has been on a sacking spree since two factions headed by Panneerselvama and Palanisamy merged on Monday. The new proposal to make Sengottaiyan the Chief Minister is Dinakaran's move to once again establish his control over the AIADMK.
