AI S** Dolls Sales Boost By 30%: Top Chinese Maker Answers How AI Is Revolutionising The Adult Toy Industry

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) has led to a significant increase in the sale of sex dolls, according to WMDolls, one of China's largest adult toy manufacturers. A recent report by the South China Morning Post revealed that the company's integration of open-source AI models has resulted in a 30 per cent rise in sales over the past year.

WMDolls, based in Zhongshan, has enhanced its products by incorporating AI tools like ChatGPT. Liu Jiangxia, the founder and CEO of WMDolls, explained, "It makes the dolls more responsive and interactive, which offers users a better experience." The company's goal is to provide a more lifelike and engaging experience for users through the use of advanced AI technology.

AI S Dolls Sales Boost By 30

After the launch of ChatGPT by OpenAI in 2022, WMDolls began exploring how AI could transform the sex toy industry. The company dedicated over a year to developing new prototypes and introducing its Metabox series, powered by large language models (LLM). Over 100 prototypes of these new dolls were shipped to customers in North America and Europe.

These AI-enhanced dolls offer multiple personalities and can engage in more dynamic, ongoing conversations. Unlike traditional dolls, which can only provide basic responses, the new models are capable of remembering previous conversations, making interactions feel more natural and human-like. They offer a much more immersive experience for users, responding with a variety of expressions and emotional tones.

Ms Liu reassured customers regarding privacy concerns, stating, "All data is stored locally in the country where the dolls are used, and we don't have access to them." This focus on data protection aims to build trust with customers in an industry often associated with privacy issues.

Meanwhile, Realbotix introduced 'Aria', a robot designed to act as a companion, featuring nearly human-like expressions. Andrew Kiguel, CEO of Realbotix, hopes to create robots indistinguishable from humans, addressing issues such as male loneliness. Aria, priced at Rs 1.5 crore ($175,000), gained widespread attention after a video of her facial expressions went viral on social media.
