As Cong heads for split in Gujarat, Vaghela says let them do what they have to
Vaghela had rebelled against the Congress after it refused to declare him as the face of the party for the upcoming Gujarat assembly elections.
The cross voting in the Presidential poll at Gujarat is a clear indicator that there is trouble ahead for the Congress. In the run up to the Gujarat assembly elections, Shankarsinh Vaghela of the Congress is set to split the party. At least 11 persons cross voted in favour of Ram Nath Kovind who was elected as the 14th President of India on Thursday.

The Congress is watching the developments with anticipation and reports indicate that Vaghela is set to split the party. Incidentally today is his 77th birthday and he is likely to walk out with his supporters.
Vaghela who had rebelled against the BJP, 17 years back had merged his Rashtriya Janata Party with the Congress. While he is planning a walk out it is still unclear if he would go with the BJP or float a third front in Gujarat.
He is planning a third front with the support of the Nationalist Congress Party and JD(U). He is also likely to rope in Hardik Patel, Jingesh Mewani and Alpesh Thakore. He expects to bag the support of the Patidars, Thakores and Dalits by roping in these persons.
Vaghela had rebelled against the Congress after it refused to declare him as the face of the party for the upcoming Gujarat assembly elections. He was told that projecting him as the face would upset the original Congressmen.
Let them do what they want, I will take action said Shankersinh Vaghela. Vaghela was reacting to the warning given to him by the core committee of the Congress following his comments against his party. He said that he would speak about all issues at 2 pm.
