Agniveers Get Major Boost: UP, MP And Chhattisgarh Introduce Reservations In Police And PAC Forces

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adanath announced on Friday that Agniveers will receive priority in UP Police and PAC recruitment after their service ends. He also mentioned a fixed reservation facility for them. This announcement is seen as a significant boost for Agniveers.

Major Win for Agniveers UP MP Introduce Reservations in Police and PAC Forces

Adityanath criticised Opposition parties, stating that the Agniveer scheme is beneficial, but some political groups have misled people by politicising it. Shortly after his comments, Madhya Pradesh's Mohan Yadav also declared reservations for Agniveers.

Yadav stated that his government decided to provide reservations to Agniveers in line with Prime Minister Modi's wishes on Kargil Vijay Diwas. He added that these individuals would be recruited into police and armed forces roles.

Agniveers to get reservation in MP police

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Friday announced a reservation for Agniveers in state police and other armed forces. In a post on X, MP CM said, "Today, on the occasion of Kargil Day, our government has decided that as per the wishes of our illustrious Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Agniveer jawans will be given reservation in the recruitment of police and armed forces."

Chhattisgarh Announces Quota For Agniveers

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Friday said the state government would provide reservations for Agniveers in recruitments for police constables and forest guards, among other posts.

Talking to reporters on the state assembly premises, Sai said Agniveers from Chhattisgarh would be given priority while recruiting police constables and forest and jail guards once they complete their service in the Indian Army.

The state government will soon issue necessary guidelines to provide a fixed reservation to Agniveers, he said.

These announcements comes after the Centre revealed a 10 percent reservation for former Agniveers in the Central Armed Forces (CAPF) and Assam Rifles. This was shared on July 24, with additional relaxations in age limits and physical tests for constable and rifleman positions.

Central Government Initiatives

The Home Ministry had earlier communicated via X that former Agniveers, with four years of experience, are considered suitable for BSF appointments. The ministry noted that these individuals would receive a 10 percent reservation and age concessions during recruitment. This ensures priority placement in BSF, SSB, CISF, and CRPF.

The Centre's decision aims to support ex-Agniveers by easing their transition into civilian roles within various security forces. The initiative underscores the government's commitment to integrating former servicemen into essential public services.

Both state-level announcements align with the Centre's broader strategy to offer career opportunities to those who have served as Agniveers. These measures are expected to enhance job prospects and provide stability for former servicemen.

This coordinated effort between state and central governments highlights a unified approach to honouring the service of Agniveers while ensuring they continue contributing to national security in different capacities.
