Karnataka will vote on May 10 and the results of the elections will be out on May 13.

The party is leaving no stone unturned as Karnataka is the gateway to the south of India for the BJP. Top leaders of the party have been pressed into action ahead of the elections, where the BJP is trying to retain power.

The source cited above said that the PM will hold 15 rallies and road shows between April 28 and May 7. The PM would be in Karnataka on April 28, April 29, May 3, May 4, May 6 and May 7, during which he will hold roadshows and public meetings.

Union Minister, Prahlad Joshi said that the PM will begin his campaign in Belagavi. He would also vChikodi, Kittur and Kudachi. He would also be in Uttara Karnataka, Joshi said.

The BJP in Karnataka is relying heavily on the campaign by the PM. The BJP does not want to loose this all important state. It is the only state in Southern India, where the saffron party holds power.

Another party source said that the visits by the PM will create new energy in the party. The party is excited about the visits and the results of the election is also being considered as a semi-final ahead of the 2024 Parliamentary elections. The BJP holds 26 of the 28 seats in the state and for the party to be back in power in the Lok Sabha next year, Karnataka will play a crucial role.

Top BJP leaders, Amit Shah and J P Nadda have already visited the state. They would be more visits by them, the source added. Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh too will campaign in the state soon.

The BJP is looking to reverse its chances in the Old Mysuru Region, where it normally falls short due to the majority of the Vokkaliga votes. The party is confidence that it would do well in the North Karnataka region, where there is a dominance of Lingayats, who constitute 17 per cent of the population.
