A bizarre notice telling girls not to mingle with boys was later withdrawn by a Kerala college following an outrage on the social media.

Kozhikode, Nov 24: A bizarre notice telling girls not to mingle with boys was later withdrawn by a Kerala college following an outrage on the social media.

The National Institute of Technology in Calicut (NIT-C) had issued a notice warning girls of "severe action" if found in company of boys in its campus.

The notice, which was issued by the warden of the ladies hostel, was however withdrawn following outrage on the social media.

Several members of the NIT-C alumni criticised the college management. Some even asked why only girls were warned about the punishment if found in the company of boys.

In September this year, St Aloysius Pre University College in Mangaluru had stirred a controversy for introducing draconian rules for students. Among the rules that had been introduced were girls should not leave the campus for lunch. The other rule imposed was that girls should not visit boys of other classes.
