After sinkhole, cracks appear on Anna Salai in Chennai

Two days after a portion of the road caved in, cracks appeared on Chennai's famous Anna Salai. Running into several feet, cracks that were noticed on Tuesday morning gave motorists a scare. Chennai metro construction work is underway on the said road.

On Sunday a portion of mount road near the american consulate caved in creating a sink hole. The metro rail authorities had claimed that all measures were taken to make the road safe. Two days later, cracks have appeared on the same road.

Metro officials noticed the cracks on Tuesday morning and alerted the police. Traffic was stopped along the stretch near Gemini bridge. The traffic diversion led to snarls inconveniencing motorists. No accidents were reported from the spot and the road will be opened to traffic after assessment of the stretch.
