In yet another cross-border love story, a woman from Pakistan has tied the knot to an Indian man. The wedding was virtually held on Wednesday between a groom from Jodhpur in Rajasthan and a Pakistani bride.

As the said girl did not get an Indian visa, the marriage process was held via video conferencing. The wedding ceremony, known as the Nikah, was solemnized by Qazis from both India and Pakistan. The wedding was held in the presence of family members and relatives from both sides, coming together to celebrate the joyous occasion and it was displayed on LED screens in Jodhpur.

The name of the groom is Arbaaz, a son of civil contractor Mohammad Afzal and a DTP operator by profession, and the girl is Ameena.

The boy said that his wife will be soon applying for an Indian visa. "Our relatives are in Pakistan. This is an arranged marriage through relatives. We were compelled to conduct it online due to the strained relations between the two countries at present. It will take a considerable amount of time to obtain a visa. That's why we decided to conduct it virtually," India Today quoted Arbaaz as saying.

He claimed that they had plans to tie the knot in Pakistan but it did not happen as it will not be legally recognised in India. "A bride for Pakistan does not get an Indian visa to get married. Hence, we got married online and obtained a certificate from the cleric, which is legal", Arbaaz.

It is reported that Arbaaz's family is related to Pakistan's family and a member of this family has already tied the knot to a girl from Pakistan.

"A grandson of mine is a chartered accountant, who is married to a girl from Pakistan. Seeing their happiness, Ameena's family asked our son's hand in marriage, which we accepted", Hindustan Times quoted Arbaaz's father Mohammad Afzal as saying.

Arbaaz's father is of the view that online marriages are a good option for commoners as it reduces expenditure while fulfilling customs linked to sacred bonds.

In the recent past, there have been many cross-border love stories involving Pakistan. Notably, Seema Haider, a married Muslim woman from Pakistan and mother of four, came across 22-year-old Sachin Meena on PUBG during the pandemic in 2020. After falling in love, she left her country and married him in Nepal. She then went back to her country, sold her property for flight tickets and a Nepal visa from where she illegally entered India with her four children to stay with the man whom she married in May.

Similarly, an Indian woman called Anju Recently, went to Pakistan to meet the man with whom she has been in touch since 2019. It was reported that she converted to Islam, changed her name to Fatima and then married in a court.

Also, a Chinese woman travelled to Pakistan to meet her boyfriend whom she friended and fell in love with on social media.
