After Mother Dairy, Amul Milk Price Hiked By Rs 2
A day after Mother Dairy, Amul announced an increase in the price of its milk by Rs 2 per liter, effective from May 1, 2025. This adjustment in price is attributed to the rising costs associated with milk production, notably the expenses related to animal feed. Consequently, consumers will now have to spend more on purchasing milk across all varieties offered by Amul.
The price hike is not limited to a particular type of milk but spans across the entire range, including Amul Standard, Amul Buffalo Milk, Amul Gold, Amul Slim and Trim, Amul Chai Maza, Amul Taza, and Amul Cow Milk. This means that the cost for a 500ml pack of milk will see an increase of Rs 1. With this change, Amul reinforces its position as a leading dairy brand in India, affecting a wide base of consumers who rely on its products daily.

This price adjustment by Amul is reflective of a broader trend within the dairy industry, marked by Mother Dairy's prior decision to increase its milk prices. Citing a surge in the cost of acquiring milk due to reduced milk production from heatwaves, Mother Dairy adjusted its prices, which took effect from April 30, 2025. This scenario underscores the challenges faced by dairy companies in balancing the interests of both farmers and consumers amidst fluctuating market conditions.
