After Massive Backlash Ranveer Allahbadia Says It Wasn t Cool Issues Apology

Taking to X (Formely Twitter), Ranveer Allahbadia wrote,'' I shouldn't have said what I said on India's got latent. I'm sorry.''

What did Ranveer say on the show?

For the unversed, National Creators Award winner Ranveer Allahbadia is facing severe backlash after a clip from India's Got Latent went viral, in which he is heard asking a contestant, "Would you rather watch your parents have sex for the rest of your life, or join in once to stop it forever?"

The controversy escalated after a video of his remarks went viral on social media. Reacting to the uproar, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that although he hadn't watched the clip, he was informed that it was "very vulgar." He warned that anyone "crossing the limits of decency" would face action.

"I have been informed about this, though I have not watched it yet. I came to know that it was very vulgar and this was wrong. Everyone has freedom of speech, but this freedom ends when we encroach upon others' freedom. Everyone has limits, and if anyone crosses them, action will be taken," Fadnavis told reporters.

Adding to the legal troubles, two Mumbai-based lawyers have filed a police complaint against Ranveer Allahbadia aka 'BeerBiceps' and other comics involved in the show. They have also written to Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phalsankar and the Maharashtra Women's Commission, urging action against the content, which they claim disrespects women.

Journalist and lyricist Neelesh Misra also criticized the creators behind the show, calling them "perverted" and questioning their influence on the country's creative industry.

"This content is not designated as adult content-it can be easily accessed by children if the algorithm leads them there. The creators and the platform show zero responsibility. I'm also not surprised that four people at the desk-and many in the audience-celebrated this and laughed," he posted on X.

This isn't the first time India's Got Latent has faced controversy. Just last week, a contestant from Arunachal Pradesh was reportedly booked over a remark on dog meat, further fueling debates around the show's content.
