After eating Biryani laced with poison, woman loses unborn babies

The Bengaluru police are on the lookout for a 26-year-old Syed Khaleem who reportedly fed his seven months pregnant wife a plate of biriyani laced with poison which lead to a miscarriage.

Ever since the incident took place, Syed has been absconding. Syed's wife Praveen Taj is said to be in state of shock.

Praveen and Syed has been married for almost 4 years now. They also have a four-year-old son. But the good days didn't last for long. Syed started harassing her for dowry and also abuse her physically at times. When she got pregnant for the second time Syed asked her to terminate the pregnancy for which Praveen denied.

One day, Syed brought her some biryani. Without suspecting his motive, Praveen ate that food after which she had severe stomachache. Praveen was immediately rushed to hospital but she lost her two unborn babies.

A case of attempt to murder (IPC 307), causing miscarriage without woman's consent (IPC 313) and subjecting woman to cruelty (IPC 498A) has been registered against Syed.
