Advaniji can choose his constituency: Rajnath

Chennai, March 20: In a bid to placate a sulking L K Advani, BJP President Rajnath Singh today said that it has been left to him to choose which constituency he wants to contest from, either Gandhinagar in Gujarat or Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, in the Lok Sabha elections.

"It is the choice of Advaniji to choose from where he wants to contest," he told a press conference here when asked about reports from Delhi that Advani was not willing to contest from Gujarat as decided by the Central Election Committee yesterday.

Singh said that after the CEC decision yesterday on a proposal from the Gujarat unit that Advani contest from Gandhinagar, he had received a proposal from Madhya Pradesh unit inviting Advani contest from Bhopal.

"Then I have left this option to Advani as to which is the seat from where he would like to contest from -- Gandhinagar or Bhopal," he said.

The BJP President said there is no confusion in the party on the issue at all. "All things which are coming (in the press) are absolutely imaginary," he said. Ever since the announcement last night, senior leaders including Modi have met Advani, who is said to be reluctant to contest from Gandhinagar, in a bid persuade him to give up his reluctance.
