Advani turns 90: Wishes pour in from across political spectrum
Veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Lal Krishna Advani turned 90, today.
Union Ministers like Piyush Goyal, Smriti Irani, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Suresh Prabhu, Mamata Banerjee were among the thousands who wished LK Advani on his birthday.
LK Advani started his political career as a volunteer of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and served as Minister of Home Affairs from 1998 to 2004.
Additionally, LK Advani also served as Deputy Prime Minister of India from 2002 to 2004 under Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Advani was the Leader of the Opposition in the 10th Lok Sabha and 14th Lok Sabha.
Advani distinguished himself through hardwork, says PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday took to twitter to extended birthday greetings to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stalwart LK Advani and prayed for his health.
"Birthday greetings to respected Advani Ji. I pray that he is blessed with good health and a long life.
"Advani Ji is a political stalwart, a leader who has distinguished himself through hardwork and dedication towards our nation.
"We BJP Karyakartas are fortunate to always receive the guidance of Advani Ji. His efforts have contributed richly to the building of BJP," wrote PM Modi in a series of tweets.
Banerjee wishes for a healthy life
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today greeted senior BJP leader L K Advani on his 90th birthday, wishing him a healthy and long life. "Wishing a very happy birthday to Lal Krishna Advani Ji. Health and happiness for a long life," Banerjee wrote on her Twitter handle this morning.
Nitish greets Advani
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday extended greetings to veteran BJP leader L K Advani on his 90th birthday. In his message, the chief minister "wished Advani good health and a long political life". Kumar served as the Railway Minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government in which Advani was the Deputy Prime Minister.

Advani was one of the founding members of the BJP, whose "Rath Yatra" in 1990 had brought the party into national prominence for the first time.
