Adopt a mile of Bangalore roads: Join this new citizen movement

Bangalore, Aug 14: The garden city is all set to witness a very innovative citizen's movement - 'Adopt-A-Mile'. Supported by the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagar Palike (BBMP), this new initiative aims to keep Bangalore cleaner, greener, secure and beautiful with the participation of corporates and individuals.

In this project, citizens and corporates can adopt any mile of the city road and maintain it clean, green and beautiful. According to 93.5 FM, a leading FM station in the city, many Bangaloreans have already expressed willingness to join the initiative. Speaking to the FM station, a youngster gave an amusing reason for his interest in the project, "I am very much ready to adopt a mile of road near my girlfriend's house" !

This initiative is a part of the ‘Namma Bengaluru, Nanna Koduge' (Our Bengaluru, My Contribution) campaign. 'Adopt a mile' projects are already popular in various places in the United States.

The project will be inaugurated on Friday, 15th August, 2014 at 8:30 am at Trinity Church in Bangalore in the presence of the mayor of Bengaluru, B S Sathyanarayana, BBMP Commissioner M Lakshminarayana.

The organisers have requested those who attend the event to wear white to support the campaign.
