Yogi Adityanath Reviews Khichdi Mela Preparations for Devotees at Gorakhnath Temple

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently assessed the preparations for the khichdi mela at Gorakhnath Temple, emphasising the importance of safety and comfort for devotees. He expressed satisfaction with the timely completion of arrangements and urged continuous review and refinement by the administration and relevant departments.

The khichdi mela, a significant religious event, starts on Makar Sankranti and lasts over a month. This year, Makar Sankranti will be celebrated on January 14, 2026. During a meeting with senior officials at the temple, Adityanath was briefed on the ongoing preparations for the event.

Ensuring World-Class Facilities

Adityanath highlighted that the khichdi mela is a major religious gathering for people from eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Nepal, as well as attracting pilgrims from across India and abroad. He stressed that world-class facilities should be provided to all devotees attending the event.

The Chief Minister also pointed out that the mela is an opportunity to showcase Gorakhpur's development. He urged officials to ensure visitors leave with a positive impression of the city. This includes maintaining robust security, effective traffic management, clean roads, and proper sanitation.

Focus on Visitor Comfort

Adityanath directed authorities to provide adequate lighting and arrange bonfires for warmth. He insisted that no devotee should have to sleep in the open and should be accommodated in nearby night shelters equipped with beds, blankets, and cleanliness.

He also emphasised strict police vigilance and orderly parking arrangements. Adequate publicity of transport facilities, including village-level connectivity and special mela trains operated by the railways, was also stressed by Adityanath.

The Chief Minister's directives aim to ensure that all aspects of the mela run smoothly, providing a safe and comfortable experience for all attendees. The focus remains on creating a memorable event that highlights both spiritual significance and local development.
