Adani Group’s Tax Contribution Rises 29% to ₹74,945 Crore in FY25
The Adani Group has reported a 29% increase in its total contribution to the exchequer for the financial year 2024-25, amounting to ₹74,945 crore. The rise comes amid the group's continued expansion across sectors such as energy, transport, and infrastructure.
Out of the total contribution, ₹28,720 crore was paid as direct taxes, ₹45,407 crore as indirect taxes, and ₹818 crore under other statutory payments, including employee-related contributions.

To put the figure in context, ₹74,945 crore is close to the estimated cost of building the entire Mumbai Metro network, or enough to fund a major global event like the Olympics.
The contribution data has been compiled from annual reports of seven of the group's listed entities, including Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports and SEZ, Adani Green Energy, Adani Power, Adani Total Gas, Adani Energy Solutions, and Ambuja Cements. Taxes paid by NDTV, ACC, and Sanghi Industries-held by the group's listed companies-were also included.
A document made available by the group, titled Basis of Preparation and Approach to Tax, outlines how taxes are categorized and reported. It divides the payments into three parts:
- Direct contributions, which include corporate tax and duties paid directly
- Indirect contributions, collected and remitted to authorities on behalf of others
- Other contributions, such as employee-related statutory payments
The group has also engaged an external agency to review and provide assurance on the reported figures. This assurance process is mentioned in the tax-related section of the annual reports.
In recent years, large Indian business groups have begun sharing more detailed disclosures on tax payments as part of efforts to improve transparency.
The Adani Group, based in Ahmedabad, operates in multiple sectors including ports, airports, power, and logistics. It is currently the country's largest private airport operator and one of the biggest infrastructure players.
