Adani Green Energy achieved a record 5.051 GW capacity in the 2025-26 financial year, taking total operational capacity to 19.3 GW. The expansion includes solar, wind, and wind-solar hybrids, with storage at Khavda and significant emissions offsets, reinforcing India’s decarbonisation efforts.

The newly commissioned capacity includes 3,409 megawatts of solar power, 686 megawatts of wind energy, and 956 megawatts of wind-solar hybrid projects. This expansion is expected to offset nearly 10 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually, while the company’s overall operational capacity is projected to offset around 36 million tonnes of emissions every year.

A major portion of the new capacity has been developed at the Khavda renewable energy project in Gujarat, which is being built as the world’s largest renewable energy plant. Spread across 538 square kilometres, the site is among the most ambitious clean energy projects globally. Out of the planned 30 gigawatts capacity by 2029 at Khavda, the company has already installed 9.4 gigawatts.

Sagar Adani, Executive Director of the company, said the milestone reflects India’s growing leadership in the global clean energy transition and strengthens the country’s move towards a low-carbon economy. He added that the achievement also reinforces the company’s progress towards its long-term target of 50 gigawatts of capacity by 2030.

In addition to generation capacity, the company has commissioned 1,376 megawatt hours of battery energy storage systems at the Khavda site. The deployment, completed within eight months of starting work, is expected to enhance grid stability and support better integration of renewable energy.

The Khavda project incorporates advanced technologies such as bifacial solar modules that generate power from both sides, solar trackers for improved efficiency, and high-capacity 5.2 megawatt wind turbines. It also uses waterless robotic systems for cleaning solar panels, reducing water consumption and improving operational performance.

The company has also been recognised globally for its sustainability efforts. It ranked first in the Global Top 100 Green Utilities list for 2025 by Energy Intelligence and retained its position as India’s top sustainability performer in the power sector for the second consecutive year by NSE Sustainability Ratings and Analytics.

Adani Green Energy continues to expand its renewable footprint across multiple states in India, focusing on large-scale solar, wind, hybrid, and energy storage solutions as part of the country’s broader decarbonisation goals.
