Actor Sarath Babu Passes Away At 71

Multilingual actor Sarath Babu passed away on Monday, according to reports in the Telugu media. He was aged 71.

The actor was suffering from age-related ailments for which he was undergoing treatment at a hospital. It was reported that he was undergoing treatment for multiorgan damage.

A few weeks ago, there was fake news about his death doing rounds on the internet. However, his PR had shot down those speculations and asked people not to believe the news.

"All the news about Sarath Babu on social media are coming wrong. Sarath Babu has recovered a bit and the room has been shifted. I hope that Sarath Babu will recover completely soon and talk to the media. My request is don't believe any news on social media," he stated.

In a career spanning decades, Sarath Babu acted in over 200 movies including in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and a few Malayalam and Hindi films. He started off his career in the Telugu film industry and earned popularity with Tamil film 'Nizhal Nijamagiradhu' (1978), which was directed by legendary filmmaker K Balachander.

Gradually, he earned a name and fame in other language film industries.

He received eight Nandi Awards, presented annually by the Government of Andhra Pradesh.
