Jharkhand Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari Calls for Urgent Action on Infrastructure Project Delays
Jharkhand Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari has urged officials to address delays in highway projects across the state. These projects, managed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), are valued at Rs 38,483 crore. They include railway overbridge constructions and road expansions. Tiwari emphasised the need for swift action to resolve issues hindering progress.

During a review meeting, Tiwari instructed deputy commissioners to prioritise infrastructure development. She highlighted that minor issues often cause unnecessary delays, increasing costs and wasting resources. The chief secretary pointed out that land acquisition, compensation disputes, forest clearance, and law and order problems are major obstacles.
Infrastructure Development Challenges
Tiwari noted that these delays impact the state's ability to secure new projects from the central government. She stressed the importance of resolving these issues promptly to avoid further setbacks. The deputy commissioners assured her that they would address these challenges in the coming days.
The chief secretary made it clear that deadlines for resolving these issues must be strictly followed. "No extensions would be granted," she stated. Tiwari also insisted that no work should be stopped due to law and order issues, forest clearances, or compensation payments.
Focus on Timely Completion
Tiwari directed all officials involved to collaborate effectively to ensure projects are completed on time. She emphasised that infrastructure projects are crucial for the state's development and should not face unnecessary hurdles. The meeting highlighted the need for efficient management of resources and timely execution of plans.
The ongoing delays in NHAI projects and state road construction initiatives were a significant concern. Tiwari stressed that resolving land acquisition and compensation issues is vital for progress. The officials were reminded of their responsibility to facilitate smooth project execution.
In conclusion, Tiwari's directives aim to streamline processes and eliminate bottlenecks in Jharkhand's infrastructure projects. By addressing key challenges, the state hopes to enhance its development prospects and secure future opportunities from the central government.
