Accident Caught On Cam: Speeding Bus Collides With Car In Kolkata

Days after the accident, the video of the horrific accident in Kolkata's Salt Lake area has surfaced online.

At least 10 people were injured on Monday when a bus with passengers on board overturned after being hit by another in Salt Lake area on the eastern fringes of Kolkata in West Bengal, police told PTI.

In the viral clip, the speeding bus rammed into a car before overturning and crashing into the divider. As per the reports in the local media, the bus had jumped the signal. A report in NDTV claimed that the two bikers who were standing on the other side had a narrow escape.

The helmets that they wore ensured that they did not suffer serious injuries, another report in the Telegraph said. Even the people in the car did not suffer major injuries.

The accident took place around 7.15 am near College More at Salt Lake Sector V, an IT hub in the state, when the two buses were trying to overtake each other, a senior officer stated.

"Both the buses were driven recklessly and trying to overtake each other. One hit the other which overturned. At least 10 passengers have been injured in the accident," the news agency quoted the senior police officer as saying.

All injured people were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, he said.

An eyewitness to the incident and the passenger in the bus told India Today: "Another bus came from the same route and this bus tried to speed up. I was in the back seat and the bus collided with a car and turned over,"
