ABVP activists burn Rahul Gandhi's effigy

Yavatmal, Feb 1: Hundreds of ABVP activists today burnt an effigy of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi while accusing him of "politicising" the suicide of Hyderabad University dalit scholar Rohith Vemula.

Hundreds of activists assembled at Datta Chowk here and raised slogans against Gandhi before setting his effigy on fire.

District unit Congress president and former MLA Wamanrao Kasawar has criticised ABVP over the protest. Meanwhile, a bandh called by the Youth Congress in the colleges across the district to express solidarity with Rohith, evoked a mixed response.
