As per sources, the prosecution is looking at 'no-leniency' and termed the double murder as the rarest-of-the-rare category, while the defence says that the punishment should be mellowed down as the evidences are circumstantial.
The prosecutor said that the victims were first killed and then their throats slits surgically with a scalpel. Hemraj was dragged to the terrace and murdered in the same manner.
The prosecutor further argued that the couple not only misled the investigation teams, but also destroyed evidence. "As they were responsible for dual murders, they should be given death sentence," he said.
The quantum of punishment is likely to be out by 3:30pm.
A quick recap
The 2008 cold-blooded murder at the Talwar residence in Noida has bothered one and all till date.
The Talwars have been held guilty of murdering their 14-year old daughter, but the truth still remains beyond reach. The evidences are circumstantial with no concrete proof to book the couple, but they are good enough to raise fingers at them.
Aarushi (14) and Hemraj (45) were found dead in the Talwars' on the intervening night of May 16th and 17th. Both of them had their throats slit with a surgical blade pointing at trained medical hands.
Many theories followed, leading to multiple investigations, but without any results. At one point, it seemed that the truth may have got buried with the death of the duo as there was no clue where the case was heading.
The nation now awaits with baited breath for the Quantum of Sentence that is to be issued by the CBI court. Hope truth prevails!
