AAP MP Sanjay Singh's Delhi Residence Raided By ED In Liquor Policy Case

The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday morning conducted searches at AAP MP Sanjay Singh's residence in Delhi. Some other premises of linked people were also being covered, officials told news agency PTI.

These operations are linked to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam, according to information provided by sources to news agency ANI.

Singh, 51, is a Rajya Sabha MP from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). His staff members and those linked to him were earlier questioned by the ED in this case.

It is alleged that the Delhi government's excise policy for 2021-22 to grant licences to liquor traders allowed cartelisation and favoured certain dealers who had allegedly paid bribes for it, a charge strongly refuted by the AAP.

The policy was subsequently scrapped and the Delhi lieutenant governor recommended a CBI probe, following which the ED registered a case under the PMLA.

These search operations took place on the same day the Supreme Court is expected to hear the bail plea of AAP leader and former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, who is involved in a case related to the excise policy.

On Tuesday, a Delhi court granted approval for Raghav Magunta, the son of YSR Congress Party Lok Sabha MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, and Dinesh Arora, a businessman based in Delhi, to become approvers in a money laundering case associated with the alleged Delhi excise policy scam.

Special Judge M K Nagpal absolved both Magunta and Arora while instructing them to fully cooperate with the investigation and reveal all information they possess concerning the case to the investigators.
