AAP to meet Delhi Lieutenant Governor today, might refuse his offer

New Delhi, Dec 14: Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal will meet lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung today to discuss the government formation issue in Delhi.

Kejriwal is likely to decline LG Najeeb Jung's offer to form government in Delhi, indicate AAP sources.

On Friday after a meeting of its political affairs committee, AAP has maintained it will neither take nor give support to Congress or BJP to form a government. Given that BJP has also declined to form government in Delhi, the state is set to come under President's Rule. The Congress had on Friday evening written to the governor offering unconditional support for AAP to form government in Delhi.

In the polls, AAP had emerged as the second largest party in Delhi assembly with 28 seats.

The largest party BJP, with 32 seats, has already declined LG's offer to form a government citing lack of strength. A party needs at least 36 seats to form a government in the 70-member assembly. Congress was a distant third with just 8 MLAs.

However, the BJP has extended unconditional support for the AAP.

AAP had refused the congress' and BJP's offers.
