AAP leaders meet Rajnath to discuss transfer of officials
New Delhi, Oct 20: Aam Aadmi Party leaders on Tuesday met union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to discuss the transfer of Delhi government officials by his ministry without consulting state officials.
"We had come here for a serious matter which is the transfer of an honest officer who busted a havala racket. Within a week, the official was transferred without our consultation," senior party leader Ashutosh told mediapersons.
Value Added Tax commissioner Vijay Kumar and three other officers of the Delhi government were transferred by the Delhi Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung on the directions of the home ministry, the AAP had said.
"Kumar had tightened the noose around big, influential people who indulged in tax evasion in the national capital. There are great chances that Kumar was removed by the central government under pressure from some big lobby," Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had said.
