AAP Leaders Commemorate Ambedkar's Anniversary with Constitution Preamble Reading

On the occasion of B R Ambedkar's birth anniversary, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders commemorated the day by reading out the Preamble to the Constitution of India, marking it as Samvidhan Bachao, Tanashahi Hatao Divas. This observance took place across various regions in India, including Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. The event underscored the party's commitment to safeguarding the Constitution and opposing authoritarianism.

During the commemoration at the party headquarters, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh voiced concerns over the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) electoral ambitions and its implications for reservation policies. Singh highlighted the BJP's aspiration to secure more than 400 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, interpreting it as a threat to the reservation system for Dalits, Tribals, and backward classes. He emphasized the party's dedication to protecting the Constitution and ensuring equality as envisioned by Babasaheb Ambedkar.

Singh also shed light on societal issues such as caste-based discrimination that affects underprivileged communities' access to education and religious spaces. He asserted that the AAP government has made strides in providing equal educational opportunities, fulfilling a dream of Ambedkar.

Concerns Over Reservation Policies

The AAP leader expressed apprehension regarding the BJP's potential return to power and its impact on reservation policies. The party stands firm in its resolve to combat any efforts that may undermine constitutional protections and rights.

Accusations of Misuse of Power

Gopal Rai, Delhi unit convenor and Cabinet Minister, accused the central BJP government of misusing federal investigating agencies. He referenced the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi's Chief Minister and AAP national convenor, by the Enforcement Directorate on charges related to an alleged excise policy scam. Kejriwal's arrest on March 21 has led to his current detention in Tihar jail, with judicial custody extended till Monday.

Rai invoked Kejriwal's contributions and dedication to public service prior to his arrest. He emphasized that despite governmental power, the true strength lies in the electorate's hands, inspired by Ambedkar's vision. The party vows to leverage this power in forthcoming electoral challenges.
