Majnu-ka-Tilla New Delhi, Jul 9: Eight months after they moved to India from Pakistan, Delhi Government's assurance to provide water and electricity facilities has given a new ray of hope to the refugees lodged at a temporary location in North Delhi's Majnu-ka-Tilla area.

According to Delhi Government, as many as 70 Hindu refugee families from Pakistan's Sindh area had shifted their base to India eight months ago and since then, they have been living in Majnu-ka-Tilla area here, but not getting basic facilities like water and electricity.

The government's move comes a few days after a delegation of refugees from Pakistan raised their problems at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's recent "Janta Samvad".

"Since they shifted their base to India, they, who are putting up at temporary structure in Majnu-ka-Tilla area, were not getting basic facilities like water and electricity. "A delegation of such families met CM Kejriwal at Janta Samvad and apprised him about their difficulties," said a senior government official.

The official also said that thereafter, a team on the directions of the Chief Minister had visited these families recently and taken stock of the situation. "Government has decided to provide electricity to these families by installing solar power panels at their areas since they are living in temporary structures. Besides, water tankers have been placed there," the official added.
