AAP Denied Permission for Poll Programmes in Haryana with Abusive Reply

In a recent development that has stirred controversy, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has raised allegations against the denial of permission for its poll programs in Haryana's Kaithal, accompanied by abusive language in the official response. The incident has prompted swift action from Brahm Prakash, the sub-divisional magistrate-cum-assistant returning officer of Kaithal, leading to the suspension of five computer operators and an order for a police investigation into the matter.

AAP Poll Request Abusively Denied

Sushil Gupta, the Haryana unit chief of AAP and a candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha election from the Kurukshetra constituency, expressed his dismay over the rejection of permission for two poll programs scheduled for April 7. Kaithal falls within the Kurukshetra parliamentary constituency. Gupta highlighted that one response explicitly mentioned the rejection, while another contained abusive language in the section meant for stating reasons for approval or rejection. "Nothing can be more shameful than the use of such objectionable language," Gupta remarked, calling for stringent action from the Election Commission.

The AAP leaders confirmed that they had followed due process by applying for permission through the designated portal. In light of these events, Prakash did not dismiss the possibility of a security breach, suggesting that the portal might have been hacked. This incident comes amidst the preparations for the Lok Sabha polls, which are set to commence in seven phases from April 19, with vote counting scheduled for June 4. Haryana is slated to cast its votes on May 25.

This situation has cast a shadow over the electoral process in Haryana, raising concerns about administrative conduct and cybersecurity in handling election-related communications. The investigation ordered by Prakash is awaited to shed light on whether this was an isolated incident or indicative of a larger issue at play. As the Lok Sabha elections approach, ensuring a fair and respectful electoral process remains paramount.
