AAP to Launch Delhi Election Drive with Sisodia's Foot March

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will commence its campaign for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections with senior leader Manish Sisodia leading a foot march across all 70 constituencies, according to senior party leader Sandeep Pathak. The elections are expected to take place early next year.

AAPs Delhi Poll Campaign Kickoff

Former Delhi deputy chief minister Sisodia, who was released from Tihar jail on Friday, held a meeting with AAP MLAs on Monday. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's wife, Sunita, also attended this meeting. Sisodia had previously met with senior party leaders on Sunday and is scheduled to meet AAP councillors on Tuesday.

Campaign Strategy and Public Meetings

Sisodia's foot march will begin on August 14 and aims to inform people about the BJP's alleged attempts to obstruct work and cause distress. Pathak mentioned that the AAP has already conducted 45 public meetings in Haryana and plans to hold larger gatherings in every Lok Sabha constituency. The party has also organised small meetings in villages, with another round of meetings set to start soon.

In a statement after the meeting, Pathak said, "It was resolved in the meeting that the assembly polls will be fought to defeat the conspiracies of the BJP to break the Aam Aadmi Party." He added that it is impossible to break the party and that both the AAP and the people of Delhi are ready to teach the BJP a lesson for employing dirty politics.

Historical Context and Party Morale

Sisodia remarked that in independent India's history, AAP is the first party facing repeated attacks, including jailing its top leader. He stated, "The BJP people must also be thinking that for the first time after freedom fighters such people have come who are neither breaking nor bowing down."

The morale of AAP leaders and volunteers had been dented by Kejriwal's arrest but was boosted after Sisodia was granted bail by the Supreme Court last week. The party is now gearing up to challenge the BJP in the upcoming elections.

Previous Election Successes

The AAP swept the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, winning 62 out of 70 seats. In 2015, they secured an even more significant victory with 67 seats. This time around, they are preparing to take on the BJP once again.

Pathak also mentioned that Sisodia will campaign for AAP in Haryana, where assembly elections are due later this year. He emphasised that Sisodia's efforts will highlight the BJP's tendency to obstruct work and cause distress among people.

Sisodia said preparations for the Delhi Assembly elections were discussed during Monday's meeting. He stressed that despite challenges, AAP remains resilient and committed to its goals.

The article concludes by noting that AAP is determined to fight against what it perceives as BJP's conspiracies and dirty politics. The party believes it is ready for the upcoming electoral battles both in Delhi and Haryana.
