New Delhi: Senior leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress held seat-sharing talks on Friday, January 12, and decided to meet again, with the Congress expressing positive chemistry between the two parties.

Leaders Share Thoughts, Discuss Strengthening INDIA Bloc
Congress leader Salman Khurshid stated that the leaders shared their thoughts and had a comprehensive discussion, aiming to move together to further strengthen the INDIA bloc. The meeting, which lasted for over two hours, was attended by AAP leaders Raghav Chadha, Atishi, Sandeep Pathak, and Saurab Bhardwaj, along with Khurshid, who is part of the Congress's seat-sharing committee.
Positive Progress in Seat-Sharing Discussions
The leaders discussed seat sharing in Delhi, Punjab, and other states for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Khurshid described the meeting as wonderful, highlighting the open and positive exchange of ideas between the parties. He expressed optimism that they had made significant progress beyond their expectations and hoped to finalize the seat-sharing arrangement soon.
AAP Echoes Positive Sentiment
AAP leader Raghav Chadha echoed Khurshid's sentiments, stating that the talks were progressing well. He emphasized the importance of confidentiality in alliance discussions and declined to provide specific details.
Khurshid Emphasizes Long-Term Alliance
Khurshid stressed the significance of strengthening the alliance for the future of the country. He noted that seat sharing was a specific agenda item, but their focus was on building a strong alliance rather than merely discussing the number of seats or states.
Addressing Concerns about State Units
When asked about the opposition to seat sharing from state units of the Congress in Punjab and Delhi, Khurshid expressed confidence in the alliance and stated that all options were on the table. He emphasized that the best arrangements for each state would depend on the circumstances, and they had shared aspirations within the INDIA alliance.
Positive Chemistry and Ongoing Discussions
Khurshid highlighted the positive chemistry between the parties and the absence of any negative developments in the talks. He assured that they took the concerns of state units seriously and factored them into their decision-making process.
Virtual Meeting of INDIA Bloc Leaders
Regarding the upcoming virtual meeting of the INDIA bloc leaders on Saturday, Khurshid expressed optimism about a positive outcome. Sources within AAP indicated the party's interest in contesting the Lok Sabha polls in Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, Goa, and Delhi in alliance with the Congress.
The ongoing seat-sharing talks between the AAP and the Congress reflect their commitment to strengthening the INDIA bloc and working together to achieve their political goals. As the parties continue their discussions, it remains to be seen how the seat-sharing arrangements will be finalized and what impact they will have on the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
