AAP claims 16 lakh people joined the party in five days
New Delhi, Aug 26: The AAP today claimed that over 16 lakh people have enrolled as party members in Punjab in just five days as it gears up for the state polls in 2017.
AAP also claimed that over 12.9 lakh people took membership from 3500 booths it had erected while the rest came by giving a missed call to a designated number.

The party has started Punjab Jodo Abhiyan on August 20, in a bid to reach out to people. Incidentally, the AAP had launched a similar campaign before the Lok Sabha polls in 2014 and had claimed that one crore people enrolled in the party in just two months.
However, it bagged only 1.5 crore votes in the 400 plus seats it has contested in the parliamentary polls. Of these maximum were from Delhi and Punjab, a state that gave the party its four maiden MPs.
