Aamir Khan Reflects on His Admiration for Sridevi and Missed Collaboration Opportunity

Actor Aamir Khan expressed his admiration for the late Sridevi, lamenting that he never had the opportunity to work with her. At the trailer launch of "Loveyapa," featuring his son Junaid Khan and Sridevi’s daughter Khushi Kapoor, Aamir shared that he quit smoking as a "mannat" prayer. He fondly remembered being speechless in Sridevi's presence and seeing her reflection in Khushi.

Aamir Khan on Sridevi: A Missed Opportunity

Aamir recounted, "I have been such a huge fan of Sri from the very beginning. I will remain the biggest fan of Sridevi ji. From the time I came into the industry, I spoke only and only about Sri. It was my dream to work with Sri but I didn’t get the chance unfortunately." He added, "When she would come in front of me, I used to get tongue-tied. I couldn’t open my mouth."

Khushi Kapoor's Debut and Aamir's Reflections

Directed by Adwait Chandan, known for "Secret Superstar," "Loveyapa" delves into modern romantic relationships in the digital age. Aamir expressed his excitement for Khushi's debut, stating, "It’s Khushi’s film and it’s a very important moment for me. When I saw the film, I felt I am seeing Sri again." He wished her well on her career journey.

Aamir also reflected on his absence during his children's early years due to work commitments. He expressed pride in Junaid's independent start in the film industry, saying, "As a father, I was absent when they were kids. I was lost in my work. I am feeling good that today Junaid started his career in his own way."

Aamir Khan's Personal Sacrifices

Aamir revealed he quit smoking as a gesture for his son's career launch. He explained, "I have given up smoking. For many years, I was smoking cigarettes and then pipes. Tobacco is something I enjoy, but it’s not good for health." He encouraged others to quit too.

He further elaborated on his decision to quit smoking by stating, "It was a good time for me to quit, and I wanted to quit because my son’s career is beginning. So, ‘Main ek mannat dil mangi ki,’ I will quit whether the film will work or not."

Perfection vs Magic: Aamir's Perspective

Addressing the 'Mr. Perfectionist' label, Aamir dismissed it by saying he believes in magic rather than perfection. He stated, "I think there is no such thing as perfection. The god or universe has created this world, and it is about small things." He emphasized that he seeks magic in his films.

"But if you guys still call me a perfectionist, I bow down and accept it," he humorously concluded.

The film "Loveyapa," produced by Phantom Studios and AGS Entertainment, features an ensemble cast including Ashutosh Rana and Kiku Sharda. It is set to release in theatres in February.
