Kejriwal Honors Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s Legacy, Highlights AAP’s Commitment To Religious Freedom

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) paid homage to Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji on his 350th martyrdom anniversary, recognising his immense sacrifice and enduring message of religious freedom. Arvind Kejriwal, AAP National Convener and Delhi Chief Minister, described the Guru's legacy as a "beacon of courage, compassion, and unwavering commitment to humanity."

At the commemoration event, Kejriwal pointed out the uniqueness of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji's sacrifice. "There have been many occasions in humanity when someone has sacrificed to protect their own religion, but to sacrifice one's life for the religion of another is rare," he stated. The Guru's belief in every person's right to follow their own religion was highlighted.

Celebrating Unity and Brotherhood

The gathering featured spiritual leaders and representatives from various faiths, reflecting the Guru's philosophy of universal respect. Kejriwal emphasised the significance of having gurus and religious leaders from diverse communities, which underscored the values of unity, mutual understanding, and brotherhood. These principles are central to AAP's governance and social initiatives.

In his address, Kejriwal stressed that Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji's martyrdom transcends Sikh history, serving as a defining moment in India's civilisational ethos. He remarked that the Guru's sacrifice preserved India's identity as a land where individuals enjoy the freedom to choose their beliefs and traditions. "Today, gurus from all religions were present, and everyone shared their views. This is the India Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji envisioned—an India where harmony prevails above all," he added.

Commitment to Social Welfare

AAP leaders and volunteers actively participated in prayers, discussions, and community service activities, honouring the Guru's teachings. The party highlighted that its social welfare programmes, including education, health, and public services, draw inspiration from the Guru's principles of equality, dignity, and service to humanity.

As the anniversary came to a close, AAP reaffirmed its dedication to preserving India's pluralistic fabric and promoting societal peace and unity. Kejriwal noted that the Guru's message holds greater relevance as the nation strives for harmony amidst diversity. He urged citizens to uphold the values of sacrifice, tolerance, and protection of others' rights, stating, "If we truly follow Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji's path, no power can divide India."
