Aakansha Haat 2024 Launches Initiative to Empower Women Entrepreneurs Across Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the Aakansha Haat 2024 at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan. He emphasised its importance in preserving culture and inspiring youth. This initiative aims to empower women entrepreneurs in Uttar Pradesh by providing them with skills, ideas, and opportunities to expand their businesses. The event is a significant step towards promoting women entrepreneurship and offering a platform for self-help groups (SHGs) to display their creativity and products.

Empowering Women Entrepreneurs in Uttar Pradesh

The Aakansha Samiti of Uttar Pradesh, active in all 75 districts, organises Aakansha Haat 2024. The Samiti is committed to making women self-reliant, according to a statement from the UP government. The initiative is praised for its role in economically empowering women. It not only promotes entrepreneurship but also helps local products gain recognition nationally and internationally.

Empowering Women Entrepreneurs

The Aakansha Samiti, part of the Indian Administrative Service Officers Wives Association (IASOWA) of Uttar Pradesh, focuses on women's welfare and empowerment. Operating across all districts, it aims to provide economic opportunities for women in self-employment and SHGs. Through Aakansha Haat 2024, women can showcase their products, skills, and crafts, thereby strengthening their families and communities economically.

Chief Minister Adityanath highlighted Aakansha Haat as a vital platform for the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme. He mentioned that women's SHGs could improve the quality, packaging, and marketing of local products through ODOP. This event will empower local enterprises and help ODOP products gain recognition in both national and international markets.

Cultural and Economic Exchange

Products from various states, including Jammu and Kashmir, are featured at Akanksha Haat. This provides an opportunity for cultural and economic exchange. The chief minister noted that there was once a perception that nothing could be accomplished in Uttar Pradesh. However, the success of the state's International Trade Show in Noida and Greater Noida last year changed that narrative.

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Women Commission Chairperson Babita Singh Chauhan, Agriculture Production Commissioner Monica Garg, Aakanksha Committee Chairperson Rashmi Singh, and other dignitaries attended the event. Their presence underscored the importance of this initiative in promoting women's entrepreneurship and cultural exchange.
