Aadhaar Update: No Need To Pay! UIDAI Extends Free Update Window - Here's How

The UIDAI has extended the deadline for citizens to avail of free Aadhaar updates through the myAadhaar portal. Originally set for December 15, 2023, the new deadline is March 14, 2024.

This window offers individuals the chance to update their Aadhaar information without any charges, exclusively accessible via the myAadhaar portal. Visiting an Aadhaar update center, however, will incur a service charge of Rs 50.

Why Update Aadhaar?

The UIDAI recommends updating Aadhaar if a cardholder hasn't done so in 10 years. This measure aims to prevent fraudulent activities associated with Aadhaar.

Steps to Update Aadhaar Online:

• Visit https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in
• Log in using your Aadhaar number or enrollment ID
• Choose the option to update your name, gender, date of birth, or address
• Click on "Update Aadhaar Online"
• Select the details you want to update
• Proceed to update Aadhaar
• Upload scanned copies of updated proofs, such as address or name change
• After entering the details, a service request number will be provided. Keep this number for future reference.
