A timeline of the major terror attacks in Chhattisgarh

Naxalites struck after more than a year-long lull in violence in Chhattisgarh.

The naxalites detonated an IED in which 11, including 10 police personnel of the District Reserve guard were killed. The spot of the incident is around 450 kilometres from the capital city of Raipur.

The team launched a massive operation following inputs were received about the presence of naxalites in the area. The operation was launched at the Puru Hidma region, which is known to be infested with naxalites. Following the operation, the police team were returning to Dantewada, when the naxalites targeted an IED when the vehicle reached Aranpur-Sameli.

Here is a timeline of the major naxal attacks in Chhattisgarh:

• April 2021: 22 security personnel were killed in a gun fight with the naxalites in the Terram jungles located along the borders of Bijaour and Sukma districts.
• March 2018: Two Chhattisgarh police personnel were killed by naxalites at Bhejji, Sukma.
• April 24 2017: 24 personnel of the CRPF were killed in an encounter with naxalites in Sukma.
• March 12 2017: 12 CRPF jawans were killed in Sukma in an encounter with naxals.
• March 11 2014: 15 security personnel killed in a naxalite attack in Sukma.
• February 28 2014: In an attack at Dantewada,, six police personnel were killed in a naxal strike.
• May 25 2013: 25 members of the Congress party including former state minister, Mahendra Kumar were killed in a Maoist attack in the Darbha Valley.
• June 29 2010: Naxalites killed 26 CRPF jawans at the Narayanpur district.
• May 8 2010: Naxalites carried out an explosion of a bullet-proof vehicle in the Bijapur district in which 8 CRPF personnel were killed.
• April 6 2010: 75 CRPF personnel killed in an ambush in Dantewada district.
• September 4 2009: Six personnel killed following a landmine blast in Dantewada district.
• July 18 2009: Naxals kill villagers in the Bastar district.
