A forum on Tibet urges PM to honour the Dalai Lama with Bharat Ratna
The All Party Indian Parliamentary Forum on Tibet has requested the Prime Minister to honour Nobel Peace laureate and Tibetan spiritual leader The Dalai Lama with Bharat Ratna.
Dharamshala, Dec 7: The All Party Indian Parliamentary Forum on Tibet has requested the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to honour Nobel Peace laureate and Tibetan spiritual leader The Dalai Lama with Bharat Ratna.
The forum passed a resolution saying the Dalai Lama has done great work to establish Indian values of peace and non-violence in the world.
"The forum met on December 6 at Delhi under my chairmanship and unanimously passed the resolution in this regard," former Himachal Pradesh chief minister and Kangra MP Shanta Kumar said today.
He said the Dalai Lama is the only Bodh guru of the world who has been honoured by almost all countries and deserves the highest civilian award of India. The award was given in the past to Baloch leader Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan and Nelson Mandela, both non Indians, Kumar said.
