‘94 Percent Audience From India’: CJP Founder Hits Back At Kiren Rijiju Over Claim Of Pakistan Followers

The online battle over the satirical "Cockroach Janata Party (CJP)" intensified on Saturday after its founder Abhijeet Dipke released Instagram analytics claiming that more than 94 per cent of the party's audience came from India before the account was allegedly "hacked". The move was seen as a direct response to remarks made by Union minister Kiren Rijiju, who criticised those allegedly seeking social media validation from Pakistan and the "George Soros gang".

Satirical Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke presented Instagram analytics showing over 94% of its audience is Indian, refuting allegations by Union ministers Kiren Rijiju and Sukanta Majumdar concerning foreign and Pakistani social media influence.

The controversy around the CJP has rapidly snowballed over the past few days, drawing political reactions, social media debates and allegations of cross-border influence operations.

How The 'Cockroach Janata Party' Became A Viral Phenomenon

The "Cockroach Janata Party" first emerged online as a satirical movement after Chief Justice of India Surya Kant's remarks referring to some of the country's youth as "cockroaches" triggered outrage and political debate.

What began as an internet joke soon transformed into a viral social media campaign, with thousands of users embracing the label and rallying behind the party. The satire gained extraordinary traction online, especially on Instagram, where the CJP's follower count reportedly surged past that of the BJP within days.

As the party's popularity exploded, its founder Abhijeet Dipke claimed that the outfit's X account had been withheld in India. Similar allegations were later made regarding its Instagram account and official website.

Abhijeet Dipke Shares Instagram Analytics

Amid accusations that the CJP had a large foreign following, Abhijeet Dipke posted a screen recording on X showing the Instagram account's analytics from April 22 to May 21.

According to the data shared by Dipke, the account recorded 1.6 billion views and gained nearly 12 million new followers during the one-month period.

The demographic breakdown shown in the video claimed that 94.1 per cent of the audience came from India, while the United States accounted for 1 per cent, the United Kingdom 0.7 per cent, and Canada and the UAE 0.6 per cent each.

"More than 94% of the audience is from India. Why is a Union Minister @KirenRijiju labelling Indian youth as Pakistani?," Dipke wrote in his post. He added that the data shown in the recording was from before the Instagram account was allegedly "hacked".

Kiren Rijiju And BJP Leaders Question CJP's Support Base

Dipke's post came shortly after Kiren Rijiju made remarks on social media that were widely interpreted as targeting the CJP, though he did not mention the outfit by name.

Expressing concern over foreign-backed online campaigns, Rijiju wrote that he felt "pity" for those seeking followers from Pakistan and the "George Soros gang".

In another post, the Union minister said: "India has enough population and highly energetic youth population who could be genuine and valuable followers! No need to seek validation from the anti India gang."

Meanwhile, Union minister Sukanta Majumdar also questioned the authenticity of the party's support base. According to a PTI report, Majumdar alleged that nearly half of the CJP's social media followers were from Pakistan.

"The big thing is that 49 per cent of followers of the 'Cockroach Janta Party' on social media are from Pakistan, while only 9 per cent are from India," he said on Saturday.

Opposition Leaders Rally Behind The Satirical Outfit

The controversy has also turned into a political flashpoint, with several Opposition leaders publicly backing the satirical platform.

Leaders including Mahua Moitra and Kirti Azad voiced support for the CJP, while former Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan criticised the withholding of the party's X account in India.

At the same time, BJP leaders have accused the organisation of attempting to create unrest and destabilise the country through what they described as a cross-border "influence operation".
