89 candidates file nomination for Panaji civic polls
Panaji, Feb 17: A total 89 candidates in 30 wards have filed nominations for the Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP) elections scheduled on March 6, a senior state EC official said.
As per state Election Commission records, 31,504 voters are eligible to vote in the election which has BJP, Congress and expelled legislator from Congress, Atanasio Monserratte, fielding their own panels.

The BJP-backed 'Panaji First' panel and Monserratte's panel are contesting on all the seats, while the Congress has extended its support to 20 candidates. The CCP is currently led by the BJP.
The process of filing nominations began on February 9 and concluded yesterday. The final list of valid nominees will be declared on Friday.
