80-Year-Old Woman Raped By Youth In Odisha

In a shocking incident, an 80-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a man 50 years younger than her. The incident occurred in Kendrapara district, the cops said.

The young man raped the elderly woman after offering her to give a lift on his two-wheeler in a village in Kendrapara district on Wednesday evening, according to a report in PTI.

The octogenarian woman was waiting at Kahuna Chhack for a bus to visit her daughter’s house when a young man offered her a lift.

The accused took the woman to an isolated place at Madanpur and sexually assaulted her. The old woman is hospitalized with severe injuries to her private parts at the Community Health Center (CHC) in Rajnagar, said medical officer Asutosh Barik.

Senior police officers rushed to the hospital and recorded her statement. We have formed a team to track down the accused.

Sandhyarani Beuria, the Sub- Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Pattamundai, said that they are examining nearby CCTV footage to nab the accused.

In a similar incident in March, a mason had reportedly raped a pregnant woman while his wife recorded the act. It was reported in the Nabarangpur district.

The couple had shared the clip of the rape on social media in order to take revenge against the survivor's husband over a dispute.

"The exact nature of their dispute is not known yet, but we are looking into the matter," The Times Of India quoted the inspector in-charge of the local police station as saying.
