7th Pay Commission: Will pay hike come in April?
The 7th Pay Commission related anxiety may just come to an end. There may be some relief for Central Government employees in April.
Reports suggest that the Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley has assured to implement a hike from April 2018 onwards.

Will hike come in April
Several reports state that Jaitley has assured to implement the pay hike from April onwards. If this is done it would come as good news for lakhs of CG employees who have been waiting for some good news in this regard.

Who will get pay hike
Employees in the Level 1 and 5 pay matrix band are likely to get revised salaries. Those employees in the higher scale are unlikely to get the benefits from April onwards.

Eyes on Cabinet
All eyes would be on the Cabinet meeting. If the pay hike is approved by Jaitley then he would place it before the Union Cabinet. The Cabinet would then have to approve the same. However there is also some bad news for the 47 lakh CG employees and 53 lakh pensioners. Even if a pay hike is approved it would be effective from April 1 2018 onwards. This would mean that there would be no arrears.

7th Pay Commission benefits
CG employees and pensioners were unhappy with the 7th Pay Commission recommendations. The government had recommended it with 34 modifications
